COVID-19: We gave away a FREE website!

If you didn’t see our Facebook posts about this (then you obviously haven’t liked our page yet, so get to it!) you would have seen that with all the hysteria and panic around lock down, we thought we would give something back to our local community to help Sussex businesses with their online presence.

We came up with the idea to give away a fully built, bespoke WordPress website to a local business who needed some help getting online. We gave no limits on what type of website we would build; brochure, eCommerce, online learning portal or even just a nice and simple landing page style, and amazingly we were…. erm “dripped on” with entrants!

We were shocked to say the least! 3 entries is all we received. One wasn’t local, so discounted themselves out straight away, the other was a client we had already quoted for recently and went somewhere else and had a poor experience, hardly fair to then give them a freebie. Luckily we managed to get one business contact us who was just starting out on their own after years of working for other companies. A story not too dissimilar to our own. Perfect!

We cracked on as quickly as we could to build it for them. Ironically, we were already flat-out with paying clients coming to us for work during the shutdown period, however we managed to pull a few all day and all-nighters to get the site up and live, much to the delight of the customer.

We’re glad we were able to help a local business “do better online” during the COVID-19 pandemic and we didn’t even really do for the PR locally either, we just wanted to give back.

Would we do it again? Possibly. However, considering we struggled to give a website away for FREE, maybe we should just stick to charging a fair price for our services!
